DAY 1:

Your holiday begins as you fly to the across the Atlantic and stay overnight in a US airport hotel. Typical US hubs to Belize include Atlanta, Houston, Miami or Newark.

DAY 2:

Fly into Belize at around mid-day and transfer to your hotel on the banks of Old River. En route, visit the nearby Baboon Sanctuary – actually a sanctuary for Howler Monkeys.

DAY 3:

Travel up the river to the Maya archaeological ruins of Lamanai, located in Belize’s Orange Walk district. The river trip is a great opportunity for spotting wildlife along the banks and in the water.

DAY 4:

Transfer to Belize’s rainforest – the Cayo District, with an en route tour of Belize City for an introduction to Belize’s history, and then onto the Traveller’s Rum Factory to savour the countries local rum.

DAY 5:

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the lively San Ignacio Saturday market. Afterwards, visit a local Maya community and learn about their traditions and customs during a cooking or pottery class. Finish the day by admiring the views atop the impressive El Castillo Temple at Xunantunich.

DAY 6:

Day at leisure in the Cayo District. Optional activities and tours on offer in the region include exploring the ATM cave, visiting Caracol or Tikal across the border from Belize in Guatemala, hiking through the rainforest, bird-watching and canoeing. Alternatively, you may just decide to stay and relax by the pool – the choice is yours!

DAY 7:

Transfer from the Cayo District to the lesser-visited and culturally-rich district of Toledo, with an en route visit to a local hot-pepper sauce factory. You will also visit a Spice Farm and get to see, touch and smell the trees that grow these flavourful ingredients.

DAY 8:

Learn all about the cacao history and traditional methods of making chocolate as part of a fun and interactive chocolate tour – a dream for chocoholics of all ages! Taste the different flavours on offer and indulge in a chocolate lunch.

DAY 9:

Day at leisure in the Toledo District. Optional activities and excursions available include river kayaking, a visit to the ruins of Lubaantun (above) and Nim Li Punit, take a boat down monkey river to spot wildlife and a visit to a local community to learn about their culture and traditions.

DAY 10:

Take a short-hop domestic flight over to Dangriga, followed by a short 20-minute land transfer to the small coastal Garifuna village of Hopkins. En route you will have the chance to enjoy some exhilarating zip-lining, waterfall rappelling or a rainforest hike.

DAY 11:

Become part of the Garifuna Community as you take part in their cultural experience and learn about their history, survival skills and traditional rituals, meals and music. Immerse yourself in Garifuna Culture by cooking and beating the drums.

DAY 12:

Relax and unwind as you soak up the sun on the fantastic white-sand beach and explore the cooling waters of the Caribbean Sea as you snorkel the second longest Barrier Reef in the world – second only to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

DAY 13:

Final day at leisure for some beach R&R, final souvenir shopping and to prepare for your return home.

DAY 14:

Take a short-hop domestic flight back to Belize International Airport ahead of your journey back home or further afield.
